SCS Fabricates 160-Foot Bridge Trusses for 42-Mile Conveyor Project

Along the conveyor route, existing infrastructure presented several crossing points, including gas lines and gates. To carry the conveyor across these areas, the project required 160-foot bridge trusses designed for the application.

SCS was brought in to fabricate the large structural assemblies at our San Antonio fabrication facility. From fabrication through final delivery, the trusses were completed and delivered within a 12-week schedule, helping keep the larger conveyor project moving on its construction timeline.

Projects of this scale are exactly what our Fabrication & Welding team is equipped to support. Our shop has a 36,000-pound in-house lifting capacity, along with plate burning, 60-ton shearing and punching, material sawing, in-house boring and milling, FARO alignment verification, industrial coatings, and other capabilities used to support heavy industrial fabrication and repair work.

SCS regularly supports structural assemblies, frames, supports, replacement components, equipment rebuilds, and other fabrication needs for heavy industrial operations. Our AWS D1.1-qualified welders are experienced with large weldments and structural steel, with fabrication, welding, and machining capabilities available under one execution team.

The Atlas project is one example of what that capability looks like in the field: large-scale industrial fabrication, a demanding project schedule, and finished structures delivered where they need to go. Visit Specialized Construction Services at FABTECH 2026, Booth N10029, to learn more about our Fabrication & Welding capabilities and how SCS can support your next heavy industrial project.
