Steelmax Tools' Heavy-Duty Beveling Machines Remain the Standard for Weld Prep: The ABM 50, ABM 50 DD VS Auto, SBM 500 and ABM 29

Our heavy-duty beveling lineup, the ABM 50, ABM 50 DD VS Auto, SBM 500 and ABM 29, have earned their place as staples for fabricators who need weld-ready edges without the distortion, slag or grinding that comes with thermal cutting.

Each machine features continuously adjustable bevel angles and mills or shears the edge to a clean, weld-ready bevel with no heat-affected zone, eliminating grinding  and speeding up the welding process.

The ABM 50 bevels plate from 5/16 inch to 3-1/8 inches (8 to 80 mm) thick, up to 2 inches (50 mm) wide, at angles from 15 to 60°. Its carbide-insert milling head, with onboard spindle speed adjustment, handles high tensile strength material rated to 450,000 psi.

The ABM 50 DD VS Auto extends that range to 70° degrees and adds spindle speeds from 500 to 1450 rpm, with an LED load monitor that protects the machine on stainless, duplex, alloy and Hardox plate.

Both machines invert 180° on their trolleys, beveling the underside of a plate without flipping it, cutting handling time and improving operator safety.

The ABM 29 uses silent shearing technology to bevel plate from 3/8 inch to 1-5/8 inches (10 to 40 mm) thick at speeds up to 6.5 feet per minute, producing 20 to 45° bevels up to 3/4 inch per pass. It inverts on its own trolley for double-sided work, and switches to stationary mode for smaller parts or pipe over 4 inches ID.

The SBM 500 stationary machine brings a 7,500-watt motor and a ten-insert milling head to shop-floor production, beveling plate up to 4 inches thick, plus angle, tube and pipe, to widths of 1-3/16 inch (30 mm) at angles from 15 to 60°.

These machines have earned their reputation the hard way, on demanding jobs, thick plate and long production runs, replacing manual grinding and torch cutting with repeatable, accurate weld preparation backed by world class support from Steelmax experts.
